The Entrepreneur program focuses on our younger audience and aims to engrain fundamental business principles into Charlotteans at a young age. We believe that simply understanding concepts like expense, revenue, profit and pricing can build an incredible foundation for kids to build upon as they get older.
The Goal
We were able to get in front of 40 kids (age ~10) at the Harris YMCA on Monday, July 18th, to teach them some fundamental business skills through the lens of a lemonade stand. We created an informational packet with all of the key concepts from our presentation and some information on how to set up a custodial bank account. What the kids were most excited about was the lemonade starter kit filled with the gear needed to apply what they learned by running their very own stand! We encouraged each of them to put 50% of their earnings into their (hopefully) newly set up bank accounts.
